sleeping with our rescued kitty!

Wow, it's been a long time! With facebook, it's easier to keep up on that and I do a lot of it on my phone at work but my blog is too much info for my phone and I can't access it on that. Soooo... we've been busy beavers! Our vacation to Mill Creek in July was great - a much needed time to get away with the kids and just have fun and relax... I enjoyed my morning jogs on the beach and hubby and I snuck away one morning and had breakfast in town then went to the Mill Creek and walked the trail all the way and saw some of the beaver dams, etc. at the top of the trail. We enjoyed the day with Dad and Teresa when they came up and spent the day on Mackinac Island with them. I got to see my old boss, Pat and his wife Alice at the Murray Hotel and talked with them for awhile after he invited ALL of us in for pizza/salad/drinks/ice cream on him. He remembered me after 20 years!!!
We've been working around the house - got the outdoor woodstove moved out to the property as well as the stuff in both of our attics. Just getting things ready in case the house sells as we lowered the price and have had more activity on it recently (PLEASE LORD!!!). I've been here for 16 years and although we've decluttered quite a bit in the 10 years we've been married, there is still a lot of stuff. We have been picking from the garden as much as we can although the cold summer hasn't helped produce a lot of beans:( But, we'll take what we can get and be thankful!

At work, we started working 4 10 hour days (M-Th) on August 3rd. Having a 3 day weekend is great, but the 10 hour days with an hour travel time on both ends makes for a very short night at home with the kids. AND, a very LONG and TIRING day! Fridays are reserved for doctor appts., etc as much as possible! Next Friday they have scheduled us to work (Overtime, praise the Lord!). This cash for clunkers has helped business pick up a bit, but it won't last forever! They have moved our plant closing date to November 25th because of this and some other issues that Fairfax, KS is having with more of their cars selling therefore needing us to build more Malibus... which is a good thing! Add to that, house showing more, trying to keep it clean, making dinner, garden picking, etc. We also took a trip to Indiana to visit the Christophers and went to Hardy Lake last Saturday with them and spent the day boating, skiing, tubing and jet skiing and then on to Holiday World the next day spending it with the little kids in the pool area and small kid rides while the others did their own thing! It was tons of fun!

Now, just getting everyone ready for school. Yesterday, spent the entire day shopping with the kids. Curt is in junior high this year and has to wear dress pants, shirt and ties everyday so he needed a whole new wardrobe because he hates to dress up! Isaac can't wear jeans anymore and no denim skirts for the girls so had to pick up some things for everyone! Erin is so tall that a lot of hand me downs don't fit her so she got a new wardrobe as well... She is soooo excited about going to school! Isaac isn't all that excited and asks everyday how many days of summer is left! He has lost 3 teeth in the last 2 weeks and looks so adorable! Amber is getting her stuff to get ready to go back to college on September 8th. It looks like I will be able to get the day off to take her - WOOHOO! She is still working and loves the Roenicke's and will miss them terribly! That has just been such a blessing for her to be there this summer in more ways that I can explain! They are a terrific example of our wedding vows and what they mean... Brooke tries to go to the barn 3 times a week to ride Gent and they are doing great together! Curt has been busy finding things to do this summer since we have taken the computer and video games away from everyone at the house for awhile! It was getting to be the only thing on the boys' minds, so we did away with it for awhile so they can discover themselves and the real world again!

Speaking of busy - realtor just called and wants to show the house tomorrow so I gotta get busy cleaning! Never fails, always something to do and Erin is crying so gotta see what's up there, too! I will still try and post some new pictures although some are on the laptop and can't get to those just yet, but will try to do some as I clean! Have a great rest of the weekend!

Chris
