Happy New Year!!

Here we are, almost 2 weeks into the new year already!!  We enjoyed our time off at Christmas with the kids!!  We had December 17th thru January 2nd off and the kids were off December 21st thru January 6th!  They actually had today off from school due to weather out this way!  We are enjoying the rainy day, as long as there is no more ice!!  I am trying to get motivated, but having a hard time getting going!  I met Aunt Tara for breakfast in town this morning - that was lots of fun!  I wish I could do that more often!  I ran a few errands on the way home, made an appointment at the vet to take our kitten in on Monday to be neutered and have his front paws declawed - he likes to sharpen them on everything from my newer furniture, my bedroom furniture and the kitchen cabinets, so they have to go!  He is an inside kitty so he should be ok!  He is the weirdest thing... he loves to clean the kids' hair when he cuddles with them in bed.  Erin comes out looking a fright most mornings!  Isaac was carrying him to bed last night, and the kitten was wrapped around his neck, cleaning his head...lol!  They love him!

Yesterday we went to a funeral for my stepbrother, Mike who was killed in a snowmobile accident last Saturday up in Cadillac.  Man, I really don't like funerals.  It was good to see our family up there, but don't like the occasion:(  Be praying for Teresa, Judy (his wife), and family as this was a big blow, of course and they have to adjust to a new kind of life, again.  Drove through the cemetery - Mike is buried in the same one as my Dad...  Hard to believe it will soon be two years, we miss him so much!  Grandma Teresa gave the boys each a shadow box with a sketch Grandpa drew and some flies he tied attached - such a neat gift!  They came home and the next day the boxes were hung in their room:)  Priceless for sure!

We are working on getting the master bathroom off of our bedroom done:)  I can't wait to have my own bathroom again:)  I am looking forward to a hot, soaking tub where my legs are actually covered in water!  That is our big excitement around here lately!  Things are much slower in the winter at this house!  I've been enjoying our beef calf in the barn.  We picked him up before Christmas and he's in a stall.  He is very friendly and loves that I bring him treats every night and he has started going right for my pocket when I arrive!  He has grown already in the 3 weeks he has been here!  Missy really loves him, she got into the stall the second day and really freaked the calf out, so I have to be careful she doesn't get in with him.

Our schedules went to five 8 hour days of work now and we love it so far!  I can actually come home, cook dinner, do some laundry AND fold it and still have time leftover:)  The kids love that we get home right after they do!  It is still daylight, even!!  In the summer, it will be great so hopefully, they keep it that way!

Ok, I am off to get motivated to do something!!  Have a great day!
