Friday....

Hi there folks! Getting ready to go to bed, but thought I'd update my blog a little more faithfully:) Not to mention we'll be laid off soon and have more time! This week was busy - Monday played hooky from work, took a personal day and finished painting at the mobile home - 3 bedrooms are done now. We went out there Tuesday night to finish that and Jeremy worked on the flooring. Wednesday and Thursday too tired, stayed home and did house stuff, tried to catch up on rest. Thursday night I cleaned house and made cookies (along with homemade canned salsa) to send down to Amber with her dad and Michelle who went to visit her for the weekend. Have a little "gut bug" going through the house this week and chest colds maybe for Erin, Curt and Jeremy. Lyndsay and I have the "gut bug" but it's gotten better through the week. Lyndsay now tells me when she's gone potty in her diaper and runs to get one, gets very upset when I don't change her right away. She will sit on the potty happily and looks way too tiny up there! Most kids are scared at first, but not her! She has been miss trouble lately - getting into everything! Got into something in Brooke's room last night and it hasn't come out of her hair yet! Had to put it in a ponytail today - still greasy! Today, we took care of some banking this morning, then went to town and bought the tile and carpet for the mobile home. Jeremy took it out there and unloaded, I got the kids from school and met him at the title insurance office to CLOSE ON OUR HOUSE! After that, we went to his grandparents house to remove their air conditioners, eat dinner and celebrate Great Grandma's birthday. On the way home tonight we were talking about how wierd it was, going home to a house that we no longer own!!! Once we get the flooring done and installed, we can start moving in. Lord willing, we will be starting on the well and septic and power in the next week so we don't have to live amish style til it gets put in:) So, that's it for now (I think that's enough:) - have a great weekend until next time! I will update again later. Chris

starting to move finally!

updates, updates...

Hello there! Well, the mobile home is now at ____ Sheridan Rd. in Millington:) We are now going to be working on painting and flooring so it will be ready to move into the week of November 9th! It makes our camper look really small:) My dad and Heather came out on Monday and got to the property right when they got there with the mobile home... So, they got to see it come down the driveway. Jeremy's Dad and Sherry were there to help as well and help they did! Thank you! Moving the expando out was a little tricky but not as hard as I thought it would be! It was scary for a moment - looked real tippy:) Tuesday was a rough day at work - I was very very tired from being outside in the cold all day Monday (didn't get home til 9pm that night) and had a hard time at work. I almost fell asleep standing up a few times and didn't know if I would make it through the 10 hour day! So, Tuesday night, I took Brooke to the barn to ride and went to get groceries in Vassar while she was there being watched by Leah... Then, back to pick her up and head home and we made it into bed at 9:40pm!!! So, Wednesday I felt a little better! At work, we usually hear "rumors" about any scheduling changes before they actually announce any. After our first break that morning, breaking news came across our andon board - "due to market conditions, Orion will be down (laid off) for the week of November 9th! Boy, when it rains it pours! Being laid off for one week is a bummer - it just messes up pay periods, etc. Had to go out to Millington that night to seal up the mobile home a bit better because we had pulled the expando out but the corners still had to be covered up and it was supposed to rain. The kids played outside and had some good oldfashioned fun! Can't wait to move out there! Thursday the boys and Jeremy had haircuts and I took Brooke out to the barn again and got home early but stayed up late catching up on house stuff! Got up early this morning because Jeremy and I met our loan officer at Greenstone in Lapeer at 8am. I stayed for 30 minutes but then left with Brooke and Lyndsay to get her to Ann Arbor appointment at 10am. It took them an hour to get her all hooked up and give us instructions on the video equipment and off towards home we went! We got home about 12:40pm and I spent a lot of time on the phone, learning that we will be called on Monday to set the closing date for our house (YIPPEE!). All is going great on that end! One good thing about being laid off the week of November 9th is that we will be able to move that week easily! Today I worked on the basement a bit and took some more packed boxes out to the garage and put some by the front door to take in the trailer tomorrow out to the property!

This morning, Jeremy went to the property after the bank appointment to meet his mom and Len there - they were very generous with their time and went out there to paint a room in the mobile home! I can't wait to see it and am soooo thankful for their help! We are going out there first thing in the morning to keep on going!

Brooke is all hooked up and spending most of the time in her room, watching movies and eating! LOL! She has all kinds of wires on her head and is bandaged up and looks like she has a helmet on:) She has a box to hook up to a video box (she can disconnect and come up to use facilities, etc.) So, there is video and sound being recorded 24/7 unless she unplugs. So, there is about 4 foot of cable that allows her some room to move! I might have to wait until she falls asleep to get a picture but I will be nice and not post it for everyone to see! So, she is enjoying her quiet time in "the cave"! I have to change the batteries after 24 hours and we can remove the wires and disconnect Sunday morning. Jerry is taking the equipment back to Ann Arbor Monday morning for me so I didn't have to take off work for that.

So, here are some pictures of the move. I will post more pictures of the inside after we paint some more to show the difference a little bit of paint can make!

Have a great weekend! Chris

Where did September go???

Wow - that month went by fast! Jeremy and I got Amber off to college without any trouble. We got the hay baled and left at 4ish and got there around 8pm and checked in to the hotel. We ate dinner at Red Lobster together and then went to the hotel and enjoyed watching the Discovery Channel since we don't have it at home:) Lyndsay was pretty wound up after a pillow fight with Daddy! The next morning, we got up early, ate breakfast at the hotel and off to Hyles Anderson College! It went much faster this year - she registered online so she only had to wait in line to pay tuition, get her dorm assignment and box key. She ended up on the 3rd floor (no elevator). So, we all took some things up (Lyndsay included) and had some help from some young men there as well! Didn't take long to get her all settled in and unpacked! Then, off to town to get her some groceries and eat lunch before taking her back and leaving. Lyndsay had fun in Amber's room, playing in the empty credenza, putting her diaper bag in there and closing it. Then she'd take clothes from Amber's suitcase and put them on the bottom of the credenza and shut the door:) So funny! The kids are all back in school now and my favorite thing about it is they all go to bed much earlier without any arguments! Erin loves loves loves school and is already writing her name pretty good and is counting all the way to 20 as well! Isaac comes home singing a new song everyday and I love hearing him sing about Jesus as he walks through the house! Brooke is just glad to be with friends and is doing very good! Curt is in Junior High this year and is enjoying it as well - doesn't give me too much grief about dressing up anymore:)

We have been busy on the house front. We are still waiting on a closing date but were informed it could be next week - just waiting on paperwork from the bank... We nixed the manufactured home deal and have been getting bids from contractors, etc. for the house we want to build and we are also getting a bid on a modular home as well. When the finished numbers come in, we will then decide. Jeremy was looking at the classified one night a few weeks ago and saw a free mobile home in there. We called, ran over to Robin Glen and looked at it and said we'd take it. It's a 1987 14X70, 3 bedroom, 2 bath and will be great for us to live in until our home is done! Praise God AND IT'S FREE! So, we've been getting with the mover, etc. making plans to move it next week now.

Last weekend, we had done some packing up of things in the basement. Brooke had her girlfriend, Crystal over and we headed out to the property when we had the trailer full. We ordered pizza on the way and ate when we got there at 9pm. The girls went out and jumped on the trampoline and tipped the stars (or something like that). They came in and asked if they could sleep on the trampoline and we laughed, said "SURE", but we give you half an hour and you'll be in - it's going to be cold! Jeremy was watching a John Wayne movie with the other kids in our bedroom and I took Lyndsay out and fell asleep on the Kitchen table/BED. Around midnight, heard the girls come in, looked up and Brooke said it was raining out. I fell back asleep as they made their way back to the bunks. All of a sudden, I heard some commotion and was going to holler at them to be quiet and when I looked up, I saw Brooke sitting in the corner against the bathroom door, shaking. I yelled what's going on and Crystal said I don't know. I rushed to Brooke, wondering if she was goofing around (she likes to do that:)) and shook her shoulders and said "Brooke, what are you doing, what's going on, knock it off!". Her eyes rolled to the back of her head and her arms, legs and mouth started convulsing. I screamed for Jeremy, who woke up and came running. I panicked (my trademark and I hate it), grabbed the cell, ran outside and called 911 and started screaming - please God, NO (exact words I screamed to Him the night Danielle died). I had to pull the truck out to the road and shine the headlights out of the drive so the ambulance could see where we were. I would run in and check on Brooke and found her sitting limp in the corner and then Jeremy moved her to the couch on her side. She wasn't responding, I tried talking to her, she just stared straight ahead. I gave Jeremy the 911 operator, grabbed our other phone, called Jerry and his parents, then Steve to come and stay with the kids. The EMT's got there 10-15 minutes later and Brooke was still unresponsive. About 5 minutes after they came, she kind of rolled over, looked at everyone and slurred - "What's going on". We told her we think she had a seizure, she denied it, didn't want to go anywhere, just wanted to go back to sleep. She seized for about 4 minutes and was non-responsive for another 15 or 20 minutes afterwards. Went by ambulance to Covenant, she had a CT scan, an EKG and an EEG. She was admitted for observation and we went home Sunday 1pm. All the tests came back ok. Monday I took her to see our family doctor and asked him to refer her to Dr. Woodruff in Ann Arbor. We went to see him on Wednesday. He and his nurse did all kinds of things with Brooke and listened and asked questions. He mentioned other seizures besides Grand Mal, of course - Myoclonic, Atonic and Focal Point. But, ordered a 48 hour EEG on the 16th to get a better idea before prescribing any meds. She's been having wierd things happen in the recent past and this is helping us to explain them - even the headaches! She fell to the floor, just collapsing in the shower at youth conference in March. In the morning, while showering, she will have both hands jerk and drop whatever's in them. She wakes up in the morning with bad headaches and will have to stay home and sleep all day because she's exhausted (seizure in her sleep, maybe?). So, Lord willing, this test will give him a better clue on where to go from here! It was a very scary night for us and I don't care to repeat that again. If she has another seizure, I won't be quite so scared because now I know what to expect but there is nothing worse than watching your child go through something like that and you can do nothing for them! Thank God she's unconscious during it and doesn't remember a thing!

Yesterday, we got the keys to the mobile home and tonight went over there and started getting it ready to move. I cleaned the kitchen, we started ripping up carpets. It is worn to the wood and they had 4 cats - enough said! I will paint some rooms to brighten it up. It needs some TLC and new flooring but it's free and it will make a nice home for a short time! We are going back over there in the morning to keep working on it. The kids had a great time playing hide and seek in there tonight - empty! Isaac was getting upset because Lyndsay would find him everytime before Erin could! Brooke and Curt are at Jerry's for the weekend and I feel a little apprehensive...

Anyhewwww, have a great weekend, keep praying for us - especially Brooke. She can't drive for 6 months after a seizure and this is extremely hard - she was going to the barn 3 times a week to ride and can't do it now unless I or someone else takes her... she can't even run an errand for me, can't take the kids to school, etc. A lot of her freedom and independence that kids her age want got taken away! She's handling everything great, but I know it's hard! Pray for us in this moving process - haven't had much of a chance to pack. As I speak, tomatoes are cooking down on the stove for salsa that needs to be made and canned and I have 3 bushels of apples in the garage waiting to be made into applesauce and canned! Busy busy busy! Also, our official last day is November 25th and we will be off until January or June 2011. Until next time and I will try and post more pictures soon.
